Newsletter: Spring Update 2019

Hello and welcome!

It has been a while since I last posted anything here. I just wanted to touch base with you all and say I haven’t forgotten about any of you! My days currently seem to be along the lines of; I wake up, coffee, force breakfast down, get ready for work, get to work, work, get home, have a cup of tea, then crash. And do it all over again. And again. And again. It has been weird having a full time job in a western country vs a full time job in China.

It’s been such a crazy few months that I really haven’t had any time to make anything but a few kilos (ummm… is 15kg of soap still a few?) of soap. I tried my best to experiment with some various store bought products to get an idea of how they have developed since I last lived in a western country. And my skin didn’t take to the commercially made beauty bars, soap, body wash. I kept on itching like a fiend. And with bar soap being able to just sit on a shelf and get better with time, and being able to make a massive amount all at once, it is easy!

Last month, I ran out of ALL my face and body products. I only noticed it today that my entire face routine is now commerically purchasable. I’m stunned. Shocked even. And having a huge holy moly moment about it. I can’t even remember the last time I used more than one commercial product at a time. I just haven’t had the energy, nor the time to head into the workroom and make anything. And if I am truly being honest with you, I really haven’t had any interest of late to make anything after so many let downs this past year. It is almost as if my passion for making things, and my inspiration for creating a new formula, has just gone out the window and out with the trash.

Here are some links to some of the products my skin seems to be enjoying of late:

Screenshot 2019-04-16 at 14.29.55.png Sukin Revitalising Facial Scrub: I like this facial scrub a lot! It kind of reminds me of the Face Polish I made last year. I use this a few times a week, and use the Sukin Foaming Facial Cleanser every other time.

I find that these cleansers don’t dry out my skin, and provide me with that tactile sensation I love having in my facial products!

Next up is my new toner by The Ordinary: Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution. It helps to balance my skin tone, and is a gentle AHA. I let the toner almost dry completely before following with another The Ordinary product: Hyaluronic Acid 2%+B5.

Which is better than liquid chocolate! I use the Hyaluronic Acid as a massage gel and ensure to give my face a good two to five minute massage. Screenshot 2019-04-16 at 14.41.00

Next up is another The Ordinary product called, “Buffet“. This product deals specifically with skins loss of elasticity. I also like how it helps to fade dark spots, hydrates, and brightens the skin. Needless to say? I am super duper in love with this product! It is a wee bit on the expensive side for a The Ordinary product, but it’s lovely!

Finally, I am using another Sukin product for a moisturiser: Oil Balancing Mattifying Facial Moisturiser. I’m kind of on the fence still about this one, I find that some days my skin looks more oily than ever, and other times using it, my skin looks perfect and matte.

Marie from HumbleBee&Me has asked if I had a couple hours each week to help her out with replying to comments on HumbleBee&Me the blog, and YouTube! So if you are missing me way too much, you can find me over there these days! I owe Marie a huge thank you for bringing me back into the DIY world with this formula. It’s been a long time since I saw a formula somewhere online that I want to make exactly as it is posted with absolutely no substitutions. How to Make Mango Mango Body Lotion

It’s crazy. She posts so many awesome- and I mean truly awesome formulas on her blog that I read every time something is posted. Usually, I’ll look at it and think, oh I’d swap this for that. Or, I’ll just up ingredient A because my skin likes it a lot. This is the first formula in forever, that I want to make as is. No swaps, no upping this ingredient, no changing the formula. Just as is. It’s the first time in ages, I have actually felt any sort of inspiration to make something.

I just need to get my hands on that Mango Natural Fragrance Oil here in Ireland or Europe. Buying it from that website Marie suggest will cost me over 95USD in shipping fees. Holy smokes!

Anyone find it over here?

So that is my update in a nutshell! As I said, if you’re missing me, for the time being, you can find me on HumbleBee&Me!
